Under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing, the Guest Services Coordinator supervises the operation and maintenance of quality of the Ocean Institute’s front-line guest services. The coordinator has a lead role in all aspects for the successful completion of reservations by guest services for public programs.
Maritime Instructors teach award-winning educational programs aboard two Tall Ships, Spirit of Dana Point and Pilgrim. Instructors dress in period costumes, and use role-play, combined with traditional teaching skills and strategies, to take students grades 4 and above on exciting voyages of learning. Programs take place dockside in Dana Point Harbor and on the wide open sea.
Under direction of the Outdoor Education Director and Coordinators, the Outdoor Education Instructor teaches students environmental science, California history, and leadership in a unique residential setting at the Lazy W Ranch, nestled deep in the Cleveland National Forest.
Under the direction of Science Department Program Directors and Coordinators, the Science Instructor utilizes appropriate teaching skills and strategies to promote each student’s knowledge, awareness, and appreciation of science content. Science Instructors teach students grades pre-school through college in our laboratory, on our research vessel, and in the Dana Point Marine Conservation Area.
Under the direction of the program director and manager, the Instructor utilizes appropriate personal interpretation strategies and teaching skills to promote each visitor’s knowledge, awareness and appreciation of Southern California’s natural and cultural history. Responsibilities include leading tours and programs, serving as a stationary guide in assigned locations and assisting guests of the Ocean Institute.
Under the direction of the Guest Services Coordinator and with a dotted line to the Vice President of Marketing, the Guest Services Reservation Representative will provide excellent, friendly proactive customer service, with an emphasis on consistent quality care to customers. The Guest Services Reservation Representative’s focus is primarily on the organization’s educational and public programs bookings but will also support marketing and sales events.
