Ocean Institute Welcomes Alaskan Fisherman, Photographer Corey Arnold for Artist by the Sea Lecture Series

DANA POINT, CA, August 4, 2008 - The Ocean Institute is pleased to welcome Alaskan fisherman Corey Arnold for its third Artist by the Sea presentation on Thursday, September 18, 7 p.m.

Arnold is a photographer who has worked seasonally as a deckhand off the coasts of Alaska since 1995. He has photo-documented the lives of fishermen and displayed his work at leading galleries in Los Angeles and New York. He has also spent years in Norway documenting the lives of fisherman and whalers of the Barents Sea.

He was also among those featured onboard the Rollo in the Discovery Channel's hit series "Deadliest Catch," which documents the often dangerous lives of crab fisherman in the Bering Sea. His work has also been featured in The New Yorker, Outside Magazine, Fortune, Juxtapoz, Rolling Stone and major promotional campaigns for the Discovery Channel. Other television credits include National Geographic Television, the BBC, PBS (Emmy Nominated for Best Documentary), the Disney Channel and Animal Planet.
